‘People who love to eat are always the best people’ – Julia Child
Visiting friends in Tasmania who are fans of the ‘Paddock to Plate’ approach meant good food was always on the agenda! So one evening we all headed out of Launceston and arrived 15 minutes later at the Red Feather Inn.
The Red Feather Inn is a collection of historic buildings built with convict labour in circa 1842 and has been beautifully restored into a ‘live.eat.love.stay’ luxury boutique retreat.
The retreat offers seven exceptional accommodations; The Library Suite, The Garden Suite, The Red Feather Room, The Attic, The Watchhouse Cottage, Murphetts Cottage and The Loft.
Enjoying a glass of Sparkling wine we wandered around the spacious grounds and wondered how we could emulate their marvelous vegetable garden.
Time for dinner and into another sandstone building; inside our table was next to an old staircase of lighted candles.
One of the features of the menu was only three choices of each entrée, main and dessert and even then it made it hard to choose. Check out the menu below. With a cellar of local cool climate Tasmanian and Australian wines we settled in for an evening of gourmet delights. Maybe next visit is for a gastronomic experience in their unique Cooking School.
